East Tech 2025, the Eastern Command’s flagship defence technology exhibition, will open in Ranchi on Friday in the presence of senior military leadership and top dignitaries, including Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Jharkhand Governor Santosh Gangwar, Chief Minister Hemant Soren, and Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth.

The three-day event, to be held at Khelgaon Stadium, marks a significant moment for Jharkhand, positioning Ranchi as a host city for one of the country’s premier defence technology platforms. For the first time, the state will provide a venue for direct interaction between the Armed Forces and India’s defence industry, including DPSUs, DRDO, MSMEs, start-ups, and academia.

Organised in association with the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM), the exhibition will focus on the specific operational requirements of the Eastern Theatre, which covers sensitive borders and counter-insurgency areas. Technologies on display will include tactical communication systems, battlefield mobility solutions, AI-enabled applications, drones and counter-drone systems, robotics, and advanced firepower platforms.

The event reflects the government’s push towards Atmanirbhar Bharat and Raksha Atmanirbharta. A key highlight will be the display of in-service equipment for the first time, underscoring growing confidence in indigenous capabilities.

Now in its fourth edition, East Tech 2025 will be the largest so far, bringing together more than 175 defence manufacturers, 200 exhibitors, 300 delegates, and over 250 senior Army officials. It will also mark the first joint participation of both public and private sector entities, expanding the scope of collaboration.

The exhibition is expected to catalyse partnerships in research, development, procurement, and field trials, strengthening India’s pursuit of technological self-reliance and giving a larger role to start-ups and MSMEs in shaping the future of defence.
